2020 Dulles Day Festival and Plane Pull
September 12, 2020

Schedule. Transportation. Parking.

Where do volunteers and teams enter the event?

Teams should follow signage to event parking and take shuttle to event.

Volunteers will receive specific parking information from a Plane Pull representative. If you do not receive this information by the week of the event, please contact [email protected]

Is there lodging nearby for out-of-town travelers?

We recommend the Westin Washington Dulles Airport a short distance away from the event.

How do I get there, and where do I park?

Dulles has a free parking lot for all event visitors and participants. Visit the Event Info—Getting There page for information on free buses and event shuttles.

What time do gates open and close?

Gates open at 10:30 am and close at 3:15 pm. Events begins at 11 am and run to 4 pm. The last bus from the parking lot will leave at 3 pm.

Please note: no backpacks, coolers, firearms, knives, weapons, or pets (unless service animals) are allowed. Baby bags and bags for medical purposes are allowed but must be hand searched. Firearms and other weapons are only to be in possession by on duty, uniformed members of law enforcement. All event attendees must pass through security prior to admission, so please prepare for a potential delay at entry.

What if it rains?

This event is rain or shine. Any schedule updates will be posted to the homepage.

Is admission free?

Yes, admission is 100% free to the public.

Registration. Participation.

How can I see the Plane Pull team schedule?

As the event nears, team captains are asked to select their competition time in the order each team met the $2,500 donation minimum. Scheduled pull times are approximate. If you’re coming to cheer on a team, please reach out to a team member to confirm when they’ll be competing.

How many teams can participate in Plane Pull?

Last year, 80 teams participated in Plane Pull. There’s still plenty of room to grow, so let’s set a new event participation record!

Who can participate in the competitions?

Dulles Day Festival & Plane Pull events are open to anyone who registers, so grab your friends, coworkers, family or anyone who wants to join. Corporate teams and organizations are welcome to join, and sponsorship opportunities are available.

What is the minimum team donation?

Teams must raise a minimum of $2,500 to participate in Plane Pull, which is only $80/person! It’s $10/child to participate in the Kid’s Truck Pull.

What if my team doesn’t raise the full $2,500?

If your Plane Pull team doesn’t raise the full $2,500, you can charge the remaining balance to a team member’s credit card. Special Olympics will charge your card 30 days after the event to give your team additional time to fundraise the remaining balance if you choose so nothing may need to be charged to the card!

My team raised money but we’ve decided not to compete.

If your team raises the partial or full donation amount but does not compete, your current donation amount on the day of the event will still be collected to support Special Olympics Virginia’s athletes.
